Maverick Basketball Player Mike Dominguez was named Athlete of the Month by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference late last night. The RMAC started a program this season to honor a male and a female student athlete for their accomplishments during a full calendar month. Dominguez becomes the first Maverick to earn the award.
Dominguez, a native of Santa Fe, N.M., averaged 22.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game in February. In eight games, he shot 48 of 99 from the floor (.485), 24 of 54 from long range (.444) and 60 of 72 from the charity stripe (.833). He tallied three games in February with at least 26 points scored, including 37 points at Adams State.The senior guard helped the Mavericks to the RMAC Regular Season and West Division titles.
Mike was named the RMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, First Team All-RMAC, West Division Player of the Year, and First Team West Division. The senior guard helped the Mavericks to the RMAC Regular Season and West Division titles.
