RMAC All-Time Football Team

Mesa State All-Americans Michael Vaughn, Deryl McKinnerney and Jeff Tootle were named to the RMAC All-Century football team released earlier today by the league office.

Vaughn, a three-time All-American, three-time RMAC All-Conference and Mesa State’s all-time leading rusher played for the Mavericks from 1986-1989. Vaughn holds numerous MSC rushing records including most yards in a game (320 vs. Southern Utah), and rushed for over 1,000 yards in 1987, 1988 and 1989.   

McKinnerney, an All-American linebacker in 1986, played for the Mavericks from 1983-1986 and holds the MSC record for tackles in a season (181). He is a two time All-RMAC selection and led the league in tackles in 1985 and 1986.

Tootle, a two-time All-American linebacker from 1980-1983, led the Mavericks to two NAIA national championship games. Tootle was a two-time RMAC All-Conference selection and played one season for the New York Giants in 1987.

 

As part of the Centennial Celebration, all-time teams are being selected in 19 RMAC sports. The RMAC's Centennial Celebration will take place on July 11, 2009 at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs.
