MSC Track & Field opens the flood gates
09.03 | Women's Track and Field
As if last year’s 19 additions to the program weren’t enough, the track and field team continues to add to the herd as head coach Katrice Thomas released the women’s roster for the 2010-11 school year.  The season’s roster includes 21 new names to the women’s program.  Thomas welcomes athletes from California, Oregon, Wyoming and several Colorado products.

Skarda Earns All-America Status
MSC's Alexis Skarda earned All-America status finishing seventh at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National meet Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. Skarda becomes the first MSC track & field All-American in school history.

Skarda Races to Seventh Place at Nationals
Mesa State freshman Alexis Skarda placed seventh in the 5000 meter run Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Charlotte, N.C. The race was scheduled to run preliminaries Friday night was cancelled due to lightening.

NCAA DII Track & Field Nationals:
It was a dark early morning, and I only say dark because the sun hadn’t quite graced the sky with its presence. I met up with Alexis at the departure gate at DIA.  She was toting along two things that she’s famous for, a starbucks coffee cup and a smile. At that moment all I could think of is what an amazing year for an amazing athlete.  Last season she was unable to compete due to an injury and this season she’s been turning heads left and right. And now she has one more, well hopefully two more, big races on the horizon. One would expect to find a nervous jittery person. But she is calm and composed.  I’ve found myself having to be careful because I sometimes forget she is only a freshman.

Mavericks Place 8th at Championships
          The Mesa State Mavericks Track & Field team placed 8th at the RMAC Outdoor Championships held in Pueblo, Colorado. Mesa State got strong finishes from Alicia Gieck, Sierra Wiggins, and All-American Alexis Skarda.

Trackstars Perform at Christiansen Invite
          The Mesa State Track & Field Team competed at the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Ft. Collins over the weekend. The Meet was held at Colorado State University where ten teams competed on the women's side including Colorado State, University of Colorado, and Northern Colorado.

Mavs Compete at Mt. SAC Relays and CSU-Pueblo Invite
          The Mesa State Track & Field team competed last weekend at the CSU-Pueblo Combined & Invitational. The Mavericks finished 11th in the event out of 19 teams.
