Mesa State College Mavericks  ranked 50th in the 2008-2009 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup final standings released at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention in Orlando, Florida. The overall standings include 232 NCAA Division II schools and points are determined by a scoring system that ranks the success at the national level in 27 sports. Each schools points are determined in 14 of the 27 sports to ensure equality among schools that sponsor a different number of sports.

Head tennis coach Wayne Nelson (1955-1989) and former player, Dudley Reichman (1980-1982) were named to the RMAC All-Century Team. Nelson was named RMAC Men’s Tennis All-Time Coach and Reichman a member of the All-Time Team.

Teri Mayeda (2005-2008) and Dolinda Von Drumpt (1990-1994) were named to the RMAC Women’s Tennis All-Century Team.  Mayeda and Von Drumpt were two of just six players to earn the honor.
